Welcome to Moorgate Talks
Our aim is to share the good news about Jesus Christ among the working population in our area of the City of London, through explaining and applying the Bible.
The fast-paced City lifestyle can prompt big questions about our purpose in life, and can be challenging for Christians trying to live for Jesus. Like lunchtime talks elsewhere, our talks aim to get us to the heart of the Christian faith, whether you’re looking into Christianity or committed already.
The apostle Paul described his ministry in Ephesus as teaching the Christian message “in public and from house to house” (Acts 20:20), with the result that “all the residents of Asia heard the word of the Lord” (Acts 19:10). It is our prayer that the same could be said of the City of London as many people come to our Wednesday lunchtime talks and to small groups such as Christianity Explored and Partnership groups, taking the message of the Bible out ‘from office to office’, so that many more in the City hear the good news about Jesus Christ.
Usually, Moorgate Talks meets every Wednesday lunchtime to hear a short talk from the Bible – 1pm buffet lunch, 1.10pm talk, finish at 1.40pm.
Due to COVID-19, we can’t meet physically for the time being, but we continue to release lunchtime talks each Wednesday, with a Zoom discussion following, and we are hosting an online dialogue lunch discussing “Easter: hope for a shaken world” on Thursday 9 April. Message [email protected] to be emailed details.
There is NO TALK on Wednesday 15 April, when we are having an Easter break- talks will resume live by Zoom from Wednesday 22 April.
Here’s our programme card for January- April 2020.
The Partnership groups are small discipleship groups, meeting at lunchtimes or before work for Bible discussion and to pray together. We are meeting online for the time being. E-mail [email protected] for more information.
We meet to pray for the talks and for one another every Wednesday morning, 8.20-8.50 by Zoom. We also meet on the first Monday of each month, 1.10-1.50pm – for login details, please contact us at [email protected].
